“As a parent, it has been such a comforting and fulfilling decision to switch my child to Catholic school from public school, where he attended grades K-2. Sadly, Jorge was a victim of bullying during his first two academic years. These academic years are supposed to set a great start or base of what school is about for kids and my kid had a very rough start. Unfortunately, he was not seen with a class of 30+ students, all with many different needs, one teacher and no assistant.
From the moment we made the switch, I noticed a profound difference in not only Jorge’s academic growth but also in his spiritual and emotional development. The values and teachings grounded in faith have truly helped shape him into a more compassionate, respectful, and well-rounded individual, and as a parent knowing that my child is not only receiving a strong academic education but also being nurtured in his faith gives me peace of mind.

The teachers and staff go above and beyond to ensure every child is cared for not just academically, but holistically. Since day one with Jorge being the new student as the group was already together for years prior, my son felt seen, valued, and heard in a way I did not always see in his previous schooling environment. He was welcome with open arms, which made his transition a much smoother one. I am also grateful of how the school creates opportunities for him to grow spiritually and connect with God, which is something I wanted him to experience alongside his regular education.
I feel more confident in his future and his moral compass, knowing that Catholic education provides him with a foundation of integrity, kindness, and faith. The staff have made our journey as parents much easier, knowing Jorge is not only being challenged academically but also encouraged to live a life of purpose and virtue. When my son entered first grade, he was really struggling with reading. He had no confidence and would often say, “I can’t read,” refusing to even try. It broke my heart because I’ve always loved reading, and I wasn’t sure if it just wasn’t going to be for him.
Mrs. Pereira changed everything. With patience, encouragement and steady guidance, she helped him grow not just in skill but in confidence. By the end of the year, he had transformed into a reader. She gave each student a chapter book as a gift, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and to my surprise, he finished it in a single day. I bought him the rest of the series, and he read them all. He hasn’t stopped reading since.
Today, as a third grader, he’s reading books meant for fifth graders and beyond. I often have to tell him to stop reading at bedtime because he’ll keep going for hours if I let him. Mrs. Pereira sparked something lasting and meaningful in him. I’ll always be grateful for the way she supported him, believed in him and helped him discover a love of reading.
