Everything you need to know about our Middle School

Meet Our Vice-Principal

Mrs. Kara Lawrence

I have been an educator for eleven years.  I began my career at the University of New Hampshire as a history instructor.  Subsequently, I taught at several other colleges including Massasoit Community College and Becker College.  In 2015, I transitioned to teaching in secondary education.  I taught in the Social Studies department at Coyle and Cassidy for three years before becoming the Department Chair in the Spring of 2018.  As a department chair, I was responsible for overseeing the curriculum for grades 5-12, supervising teachers within the department, and serving on the leadership board.  I hold a BA with Honors and a Master’s Degree in History from Binghamton University.  I also attended Bridgewater State University and completed a Post-Baccalaureate program to become licensed to teach Social Studies in grades 5-12 in the state of Massachusetts.  My family are active members of Annunciation of the Lord parish in Taunton.

“It is with great pleasure that I take on the responsibility of helping to create an exciting and engaging learning environment for middle school students at Our Lady of Lourdes.”

    Curriculum

STEM will continue to be a focus of the Middle School curriculum and we anticipate leveraging the Makerspace equipment at OLOL as well.

The highly talented Middle School faculty will continue to build upon the rigorous and challenging curriculum that has been developed.

This curriculum has been designed in collaboration with Bishop Feehan, Bishop Stang and Bishop Connolly High Schools, ensuring excellent preparation for rigorous high school academics.

    Extracurricular Activities

The Middle School has its own chapter of the National Junior Honor Society and we will continue to induct new members into this prestigious society each year.

Once Covid-19 restrictions allow, we will resume activity in many clubs, such as debate, mock trial, and other clubs per the interest of the students.

  • Transitioning to Bishop Connolly

Transitioning to a Catholic High School

All OLOL Middle School students will automatically be accepted to Bishop Connolly High School without the need for a placement exam.

We understand that parents have choices when it comes to Catholic high schools; therefore, we are happy to facilitate the transition process of your 8th grade student to a Catholic high school.
