Community

Our Lady of Lourdes School prides itself in the many Community activities in which our children are involved The "community" includes the children who attend the school along with their parents, the parish of The Annunciation of the Lord, the city of Taunton and cities in which our children reside, the state, country and global community. It is important for our children to realize the impact that they have and the difference they can make by who they are and what they can accomplish.

Because we are a Faith Community, our main objective is to be involved in such activities and programs that demonstrate our faith and our sense of sharing and concern for each other and those around us. Each day, during our lunch period, our children pray for individuals who are on our prayer list. School and Parish families often request our prayers for individuals who may be going through a difficult time. Our children offer their prayers for these people in need. They are also encouraged to have their own private intentions and to pray for each other. Many of our prayers have been answered, and the children are pleased when they receive notes of thanks from the individuals for whom they prayed.

All of our children, parents, faculty and staff realize the importance of the relationship between the school and church. Daily Mass is available in the chapel and the children are encouraged to attend. Throughout the school year, we have regularly scheduled Masses, which the children attend and their parents and parish community are invited. Each Grade takes a turn in being responsible for the Mass; serving on the altar, doing the readings; and presenting the gifts. Many of our children are Altar servers in their own Parish churches as well.
